Some consider Pit Bulls as very vicious dogs towards people, but the fact is that this breed has one of the gentlest natures of all. Many countries ban this breed while the mass media portrays it as a killer-dog. Actually, Pit Bulls are trained to guard the house and the owner and may be aggressive only when doing their task. These dogs have an inborn taboo against biting people and selective breeding discourages aggressiveness in the Pit bull.
Pit Bulls are unable to kill puppies and kittens, if responsible citizens keep and train them. Pit Bulls that are kept as pets should be trained to tolerate other pets, even cats. Occasionally dogs with hyper aggressiveness are born, but responsible breeders will not breed them on purpose and will never include aggressive Pit Bulls in the breeding program. There are some owners, who encourage aggressive behavior in their dogs and who use them in dog fighting, but the USA bans this cruel sport now.
Pitbulls - Breeders - Description
Mature Pit Bulls weigh up to 80 lbs (36 kg) and stand up to 22 inches (56 cm). Pit Bulls are working dogs bred for functional purposes and their conformation may vary greatly. The Guinness Book of Records lists the Pit Bull for its strength.
Purebred Pit Bulls are very quick, agile, alert and devoted to the owner. They never want to quit and are rather easy to train, if the training is consistent and regular. As a true friend and personal protector, the Pit Bull will guard the house and protect your family to the end. To become tolerant to children and other pets, these dogs require socialization with others from an early age. In the hands of irresponsible owners, Pit Bulls are taught to attack people and to fight other dogs.
